KFC (Kingston) – The Double Down. I did it. And I liked it.

I’m sure by now everyone has heard of the Double Down. Essentially a meat sandwich (no bread), it has been sold in the States for a few months now but only recently has it made its way to Canada. They even gave it a very limited run (sold until November 16th only!) to create some sort of scarcity to bring people like me into KFC. Well…. it worked. I rushed to KFC the other day thinking that I had missed the deadline.

The moment you have it in your hands, you feel classier already. Poulet-mignon. Never heard KFC use those words before.

Here it is in all of its glory. For $6.99 you get two deep-fried breast filets with bacon, Monterey jack, and some special sauce. I was a little disappointed in the size.

The breast was pretty heavily fried and it kind of hurt my mouth to bite down on the crispier parts. The bacon was precooked and pretty thin. The cheese was probably the best part of the Double Down. Overall… I didn’t think it was that bad. I didn’t feel that disgusting after eating it (well I did share 1 with J so I only had half) but I must say that it was pretty salty. I don’t think I’ll have it again but I am glad I tried it. Good job KFC marketing team!
